A brochure advertising the Ludlow Supersurfacer. This machine is an auxiliary machine optionally used in conjunction with the Ludlow Typograph Machine (a noncomposing linecaster) to mill a very small amount off of the printing surface of Ludlow slugs. This improves the face of the slug, and is especially important when casting large point sizes where the very flat face necessary for good printing is difficult to achieve solely by casting.
